1. Building a Fire- This works best when you can build outside in a fire pit, so you can really feel yourself thaw out completely. Plus you can gather everyone around in a circle, to bullshit, cuddle, smoke or whatever. If you are a super B.A. you can cook something on it too, like stew or hotdogs. You know you are doing something right if you are standing so close the rubber from your sneakers melts.
2. Hot Cocoa- It's hot, It's chocolatey, I need say no more.
3. Layering- Step one: Sweatpants over pajama pants over shorts over underwear over the legs that have not been shaved for two monthes. Step two: Hoodie over teeshirt over thermal over undershirt over bra. (Coat optional.) Step three: Slippers over fuzzy socks over socks. Step four: Comforter over fleece blanket over flannel sheets over sleeping bag. Step five: Congratulate self.
4. Dancing- The only way to feel your feet in the Northeast this time of year is to move them. So I move them to the beat.
5. Cuddling- If the Donner Party had cuddled more often, it would have been much harder for them to have eaten each other.
1/7/10 07:31 pm
5. Boots with high socks- Good for feet, plus an excuse for high socks!
4. Gloves - Not a huge mitten fan, but I do love gloves.
3. Sweatshirts - I love love love sweatshirts. They are the best
2. My kitty - We both like to snuggle.
1. Cocoa - <3 (only comment on that one)

We have made up our minds to go to ancient Serpukhov for Orthodox Christmas, see the route. It used to be a capital of an appanage principality, then a big textile centre, so many beautiful churches and civil buildings are left from these times.
Assumption, 1744, St. Elijah, 1748 and Trinity, 1714 churches from the Temple Hill.

I visited yesterday Pereslavl-Zalessky, a nice town. Will warn from the beginning that I’ve not been to the Boat of Peter I, nor to the newly created flat iron and kettle museums. The town is better known as the capital of an apanage principality in Ancient Russia, but nothing is left from princes’ palaces or the citadel. The gap is filled by churches built in different periods at the best places.
The town from the Goritsky Monastery. Left behind the Forty Martyrs’ Church is the Plescheyevo Lake. Mid at the horizon is St. Nikita Monastery. Mid right is St. Nicholas Monastery.

1. Sweaters! I've fallen in love with knit sweaters and out of love with the cheap ones I wore since I was 13.
2. Down comforters. My bed might be freezing upon entry, but thirty seconds later it's a sauna.
3. My dog. He is a tiny lapwarmer, and he doesn't mind if I pet his tummy with cold fingers.
4. Soup! If you burn your tongue, the rest of you is warm too, right?
5. Sex.
1/4/10 11:40 pm
- Earl Grey or Peppermint tea: for morning or night respectively. I like other tea, but I buy those two kinds in bulk!!
- Cuddling my dog: he's my own personal, portable heater. Fuzzy, squishy and free!!
** A Snuggie commercial just came on, btw...**
- My boyfriend's sweatshirts: I wear his sweatshirts to bed because they're obviously bigger than mine, so they're like extra blankets 8-)
- Do the dishes: Yes, that's right.
- Sex.

The Bed - Mine is so fluffy and comfortable. If you curl up in bed for a bit, you'll never want to get out! A cocoon of warmth :)
Sweaters - President Carter was right when he told people to turn the thermostat down and throw on a sweater. Saves energy.
Space Heater - Turn on for a bit and then turn off. Life saver as my room is the coldest.
Cleaning - Cleaning a cold house doesn't sound at all appealing, but if you put in a little elbow grease, you will be warm in no time.
The Friend - What else are they for but squishing onto the couch with you?

It's really hard to get warm in our house. It's really cold in the house and our furnace does a lousy job with heating big areas. Here are 5 ways I get warm(er).
1. I get in my bed under the covers. I have a heated mattress pad so it's not too unbearable in my room when I have that on.
2. When we put the space heater out in the living room, I just sit in front of that.
3. I drink a hot drink like tea or cocoa.
4. There's places in the house where the furnace blows out hot air. I stand in front of those when the furnace turns on.
5. When all else fails, I put on several layers of clothing and hope for the best. : /

5 Favorite Ways to Stay Warm (in no particular order)
1) Kitties - I have cats, and they are the best way to stay warm, period.
2) Big Sweaters - There is nothing better than wearing a big fluffy sweater on a cold day. I personally love to take the ends of sweaters and cardigans and flip the ends so my hands are trapped inside for warmth.
3) Pajamas - Long sleeved pajamas are fantastic, right up there with hot cocoa (which I did not list because c'mon, everyone is going to).
4) Soup - Hot tomato soup with a grilled cheese sandwich is my absolute favorite winter lunch.
5) Blankets - When I lived in Flagstaff, there was nothing better than climbing under 4 cozy blankets and burrowing in for a long cold night. Than again I prefer the cold, but that is beside the point.

Five: Sleeping by the fireplace. It's cozy, cute and warm. It's even better when the dog sleeps there too. C:
Four: Wearing my sister's sweaters. For some reason, they're always much warmer than mine.
Three: Curling up on the couch with a book. That's just good. Period. Whether I'm cold or not.
Two: Hot chocolate. This one is obvious.
One: Sleeping with someone else. It's just warmer. Even in the winter, if you sleep with someone else, it gets mighty hot.
1/4/10 07:57 pm
1. Lots of blankets 2. Extra layers 3. Hot chocolate 4. Curl up in front of a window where sunlight pours in 5. Dance around

...if there is warmth, shouldn't there also be coolth? Just a thought.
Okay, to the task at hand.
5. Getting into my bed. I have a warm comforter, and no matter how cold I am before getting under it, I warm up pretty quick.
4. Hugs/cuddling. I love when a girl says she's cold but really means "hug me!"
3. Drinking hot chocolate and/or eating soup. The feeling of warm liquid going all the way down to your stomach is awesome.
2. Sex. Having sex is a workout unto itself, if you're doing it right, and it warms up the whole room.
1. A long hot shower. This is one of the three things that I must have every day. (The other two are an ice-cold beverage and the moment of removing my shoes at the end of the day, lol.)
1/4/10 07:02 pm
1. mocha or chai tea or soup 2. cuddling 3. lots of layers of clothes and blankets with slippers and hat 4. moving around- dancing or cleaning or something 5. hot shower

Tea – seriously, nothing warms you up like a nice spiced tea. I prefer chi, cinnamon, gingerbread, anything that reminds of that comfy cozy feeling.
My new robe – For Christmas my parents got me a robe and it is amazingly warm and comfortable.
Turn up the heat – Not my favorite way to get warm because I much prefer curling up in a blanket or my robe but sometimes it’s just too cold for that alone
Exercise – nothing warms you up faster
Taking a hot bath – The water keeps me warm and by turning on a heater I can stay in it for a long time without the water getting cold.
